New! Library Guides. The library's new and growing collection of topic specific resource guides here.
Online databases are available 24 hours a day via the internet on your home or work computer. To access the databases just click on the links and enter your GippsTAFE student number and password. Alternatively we offer a gateway to online databases at My GippsTAFE from the library section of the portal under 24/7 online databases or from our Library Guides.
ANZ Ref Centre
Australia/NZ Reference Centre provides online access to full text leading Australia/NZ magazines, newspapers and newswires and reference books. It contains more than 80,000 full text biographies, 293,480 photos, maps and flags
Australian Standards Online
Standards On-Line Premium provides full access to over 7,700 national Australian Standards. GippsTAFE library subscribes to a single user licence. If the message "All AS licences currently in use" is displayed someone else will be using the database you should try again shortly.
Business Source Complete
Offers searchable cited references for more than 1,300 journals in the disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Additional full-text, non-journal content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works, conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses, faculty seminars (videos), and more.
CINAHL - Nursing & Allied Health
CINAHL Plus with Full Text is a comprehensive nursing and allied health research database offering more than 640 full text journals, 220 full text books and has coverage dating back to 1937. In CINAHL you can search for, view, print, email or save full text documents. View full list of titles.
ebrary
Ebrary is a collection of over 30,000 full text electronic books across a wide range of subject areas. You can read, print, cut and paste text from books (within copyright restrictions). If you register, you can also make notes within books and create a personal bookshelf.
For off-campus access (ie home or work), download the ebrary reader software from the link on the ebrary site.
GreenFile
GreenFILE covers human impact to the environment across a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. Topics include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations, local and national governments, and what can be done at each level to minimise these effects. GreenFILE provides abstract only access for 384,000 records, as well as full text for more than 4,700 records.
BCA Illustrated
BCA Illustrated provides access to Volumes 1 and 2 of an online version of the Building Code of Australia with over 3000 illustrations and explanations, and over 15,000 reference links and guides. GippsTAFE library subscribes to a single concurrent user licence for BCA Illustrated. If the database is already in use, you will need to wait for the current user to log off before it becomes available.
Joanna Briggs Institute COnNECT
The Joanna Briggs Institute is an International not-for-profit Research and Development Organisation specialising in Evidence-Based resources for healthcare professionals in nursing, midwifery, medicine, and allied health.
Montie Safety Videos
This is the entire collection of Safetycare's Health & Safety and Skills videos, There are 76 titles available to all staff and students when onsite at GippSTAFE via the Novell Applications window. Off-site access is not available.
MSDS Australia
MSDS is an Australian online database of NOHSC compliant material safety data sheets. Please contact the library staff for a Username and Password
World Book Online
World Book Advanced is a reference tool that includes encyclopedic, multimedia, e-book, and primary source databases,integrated into one search. It also has research tools, including dictionary, atlas, and local and country research guides.
Trial Databases
Currently no databases are being trialed.
Sources are both domestic and international in range and scope, with material collected from countries and regions such as Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia.
No special passwords are needed and access is open to staff and students of GippsTAFE. Just log in to my GippsTAFE, open ANZ Reference from the Library database list and select the "choose databases" link.
