Course Overview

This course is aimed at people who may be required to work in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus while running or maintaining communication cables on electricity supply structures.

At the completion of training, participants will have the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively:

  • Climb and work aloft
  • Work in the vicinity of live conductors and apparatus
  • Work on conductive structures.

What you will learn
In this course you will learn about safe working practices and procedures, especially those applicable to:

  • Climbing and working aloft in general (greater than 2 metres)
  • Working in the vicinity of live conductors (power industry)
  • Working on conductive structures
  • Adjacent communication networks
  • Correct identification of distribution line structures, apparatus and voltages
  • Minimum safe working clearances from live conductors and apparatus, personal and equipment
  • Electricity generation and distribution principles
  • Pole/strand rescue techniques
  • First aid for the Electrical Industry
  • CPR, EAR, wound management
  • Treatment for burns, bleeding and electric shock
  • Release from live electrical contact
  • Traffic management
  • Confined Space Recognition

Qualifications And Recognition

Upon completion of this course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
