Course Overview
The course aims to provide the training needed to enable the holder of an Unrestricted Class A Electrical Mechanics Licence to gain registration as an Electrical Contractor. In this program, participants may learn how to evaluate the factors which influence the performance of a small contracting business, establish a marketing plan, and evaluate the labour costs and profit margins associated with operation.
Any person wishing to carry on or any person who indicates that they are willing to carry on a business of electrical contracting must be registered as an electrical contractor.
Any person wishing to contract or indicate to the public that they are willing to carry out electrical wiring work must be registered as an electrical contractor.
What is required when applying to Energy Safe Victoria for Contractor Registration?
- An applicant must hold an Electrician's Licence, or nominate as their technical supervisor a person who holds an Electrician's Licence and who has successfully completed the Licenced Electrical Mechanics (LEM) Assessment conducted by a body approved by ESV.
- An applicant or person to be responsible for the business management and administration of the electrical contracting work must have successfully completed a course of training about establishing an electrical contracting business that is approved by ESV or has passed an examination conducted by ESV or a body approved by ESV.
Successful completion of this course will satisfy this requirement.
