Course Overview

Our teaching staff have extensive experience in their field, allowing them to provide industry related knowledge and practical advice in the classroom. A focus on developing work related skills means successful employment outcomes for graduating students.

This course will equip you for employment as a case worker, drug and alcohol support worker or health education officer.  If you can't enrol in the whole course, you may enrol in a section of clustered units.

Qualifications And Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.

Online Requirements

Participants will need access to a computer and an internet connection (broadband is preferred) and a headset (with microphone) to attend online classes.

You will need the internet to access the 'TAFE Virtual Campus' online learning platform and 'Elluminate', a virtual conferencing tool.

Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of Year 12 or mature age entry.
  • Sufficient current or previous work experience in the Health and/or Community Services industry.
  • Interview and literacy assessment.
  • Successful applicants will undergo a police check.

Assessment

Assessment includes practical experiences, practical demonstrations, practical demonstrations in simulated work conditions, problem solving, journals, presentations, interviews, case studies, projects, group projects and group discussions.

Recognition of prior learning and recognition of current competence is available.
