Course Overview
This course is apart of the unique Sport Program offered at GippsTAFE, which incorporates the following courses:
2nd Year (entry is required through the 1st year Certificate IV Sport Program)
- Diploma of Sport (Development)
- Diploma of Sport (Coaching)
- Diploma of Sport and Recreation
- Certificate IV in Fitness - Personal Trainer
All students that attend the day classes (Monday - Wednesday) are eligible to graduate with each of the above qualifications upon selecting their desired stream.
This program further builds on the knowledge developed within the Certificate IV Program and provides the student with the tangible tools required to enter the industry for employment.
The Diploma program does require the student to undertake a number of placement roles within the local and metropolitan organisations so a diverse understanding of the industry is gained:
- Coaching placement
- Sporting industry placement
- Small business placement
- Primary/secondary school placement
Qualifications And Recognition
Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Diploma of Sport and Recreation.Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Entry Requirements
- Completion of the Certificate IV Program (1st Year)
- Interview and past academic performance is compulsory
- Candidates seeking entry into this course without completing the Certificate IV Program (1st Year) are required to sit a pre-assessment exam to display the required knowledge and skills required at the Diploma level
