Course Overview
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work in a pharmacy. You will develop specialist product knowledge to support the customer and the pharmacist.You will use your knowledge to support customers preventing and/or managing health conditions as well assisting in the dispensary, merchandising products and controlling stock. A pharmacy assistant at this level would provide a filter in the sale of pharmacy only medicine by identifying customer information and making referrals to the pharmacist.
This course includes practical placement so you can develop your skills in a real life environment to complement the high quality training you will receive at GippsTAFE.

Assessment is competency based and includes written work and online research, and oral presentations.
Practical Placement
1 day per week for 5 weeks and 1 week block provides students with vital hands on experience.
RPL
Are you working currently in pharmacy but lack a formal qualification? The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program may enable you to gain recognition of your existing skills and experience, assisting you to achieve a qualification such as Certificate II or III in Community Pharmacy. Your skills can be assessed through a variety of methods such as workplace visits, interview, third party report and existing certificates.
