Course Overview

This course is designed for those employed as an apprentice in the carpentry sector. Carpenters construct things such as wooden and metal structure, residential and commercial buildings and can also work on large structures such as bridges, dams and power stations.

Course participants will learn both theoretical and practical aspects of carpentry enabling them to complete their apprenticeship and attain trade accreditation.

GippsTAFE is recognised by the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence as one of Australia’s leading building and construction training providers and you will earn a nationally recognised qualification from a training organisation respected by local business and industry.

Qualifications And Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate III in Carpentry (Apprenticeship).

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be currently employed as an apprentice or trainee in the Building Industry and have a valid contract of training in place.

Assessment

Assessment is based on National Industry Competency Standards. That is, you need to demonstrate your ability to perform specific skills. It is done through a combination of observation, written assignments, tests and practical application in simulated workplace conditions.
