Course Overview

This course covers a broad range of artistic skills and experiences in many different disciplines, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, photography and digital imaging. In this program will develop a portfolio of artwork suitable for applying for admission into higher education. The course also encourages personal development and provides a sound basis for work from an art studio, or to compliment a variety of career paths.

Qualifications And Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Diploma of Visual Art.

Entry Requirements

To undertake this course you must:
  • have completed Year 12 English or equivalent or be a mature age student.
  • attend an interview and present a folio of recent art work that demonstrates evidence of basic competence in imaging techniques and the use of a variety of materials, with an emphasis on drawing skills.

Assessment

A range of methods will be used to assess your competence. Whenever possible, every attempt will be made to apply a practical assessment that models a workplace situation. Assessment methods include:
  • practical exercises such as the development of scale and full size models
  • simulations
  • journals
  • assignments
  • presentations oral and written
  • reports
  • testing by short answer and multiple choice questions
  • folios.
